The Sonando Project

The Sonando Project offers a unique and fiery blend of modern jazz and Afro-Caribbean traditions. Their musical landscape incorporates Afro-Cuban folklore and Brazilian Jazz flavors along with rumba and timba-esque dance grooves into a modern improvisational context.

Along with their fiery origianls and interpretations of the jazz repertoire, The Sonando Project has aslo currently been performing their intriguing interpretations of the music of Stevie Wonder. The music showcases intricate arrangements of Stevie's beloved songbook filtered through an Afro-Caribbean Jazz lens. The result is a contagious sound that is sure to please Jazz, Latin and R&B connoisseurs alike.

The world-class musicians of The Sonando Project are saxophonist & flutist Darren Smith, pianist Bob Crawford, bassist Sam Bevan, drummer David M. Flores and percussionist Patricio Angulo.

Since being formed, The Sonando Project has performed at a variety of venues in the San Francisco Bay Area, including Yoshi's, Jazz at Pearl's, The San Jose Jazz Festival, The North Beach Jazz Festival, The Jazz School, Jupiter, The Ramp, Rassela's Jazz Club, Top of the Mark (Mark Hopkins Intercontinental Hotel), and has become a fixture at the 850 Montgomery (Cigar Bar) in San Francisco.
