Sarah Dabby

Known for her versatility and charisma, Sarah Dabby is a violinist and violist whose talent has been heard around the world. Born and raised in Del Mar, CA, she began her classical musical studies with Mary Gerard at the age of 7, and continued with acclaimed Russian violinists Michael and Irina Tseitlin throughout her teens. Sarah’s formative musical years include appearances at the Hollywood Bowl and Cable Ace Awards with Disney’s Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra; solo and chamber music performances at the Saluzzo International Music Festival (Italy) and Viana do Castelo International Music Festival (Portugal); and workshops with the Pacifica String Quartet at the Britt Festival Quartet Program (Oregon).

Sarah continued her musical pursuits at Princeton University, where she studied with members of the award-winning Brentano String Quartet and toured with the Princeton University Orchestra.  Sarah moved to Oakland in 2009 and has since carved out a colorful musical career spanning the classical, jazz, hip hop, rock, modern, and indie scenes. As a founding member of The Family Crest, she’s recorded multiple albums, appeared in dozens of performances nationwide (Stern Grove Festival, Fox Theater, SXSW), and been in several music videos.

As a freelance musician, Sarah has performed with Deltron 3030, Kid Koala, and Dan the Automator (Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, Stern Grove Festival, Rock the Bells), Chuck Prophet (Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Great American Music Hall), Jazz Mafia, the Monterey Symphony, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Jeff Campbell, Carla Kihlstedt, and the Eclecta Quartet. Sarah received her B.A. in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. In her spare time, she practices yoga, travels, and recruits for a small tech company in San Francisco.
