Rob Reich
Multi-instrumentalist and composer Rob Reich is quintessentially what makes the San Francisco music scene a vibrant and vital mecca for independent music; he’s become one of its stalwart underground artists. Reich started on piano at age three. He graduated with a degree in Music Composition from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and subsequently moved to the Bay Area, where he discovered the accordion, now his primary instrument. Over the years he’s played with many groups including Tin Hat, Gaucho, and Circus Bella. Reich’s original music defies genre, embodying a spirit of irreverence and experimentation.
In addition, Rob Reich Sextet "Swings Left" plays jazz music for dancing, rooted in the classic swing era of the late 1930s. Featuring classic arrangements of Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and Artie Shaw, "Swings Left" branches off from there and also features Reich's original music in the style, combining a hot rhythm with a cool sensibility.
