Keirsten Wingo

Keirsten Wingo is a practicing aerialist and movement instructor, primarily living and working in San Francisco.

Her interest in aerial dance developed from her childhood, where she avidly competed in gymnastics at a national level. In her early teens, she shifted her focus to ballet and studied with great Bay Area local Lareen Fender of The Ballet School, who taught her clean technique and clear intention within her movement. This foundation gave her the opportunity to study with other amazing talent, such as Richard Englund of The Joffrey Ballet.

Wingo's gymnastics and ballet skill set lead her into a natural progression that has developed into aerial dance. Aerial chains is her favorite medium to perform, but aerial pole, lyra and fabric are close behind.

She loves teaching movement to anyone interested in trying aerial for the first time. "It's a fun way to express yourself while getting strong and flexible," she says. "Contrary to what you may think, there are many ways to work with these mediums and you don't have to be extremely strong to be successful. You need clear instruction, clean technique and perseverance."
