Eileen Meredith

Washington, D.C. native Eileen Meredith started singing professionally in a rock band in high school. As an adult, she switched to classical and opera, but still enjoys singing different styles of music. She recently performed the role of Mimi in La Boheme in a sold-out run with Virago Theatre Company. One critic called her "a delicate Mimi, with a haunting smile that matches the charm of her singing." A co-founder of Virago, she also played the role of Polly Peachum in The Threepenny Opera and Cunegonde in Candide. The Alameda Journal called her Cunegonde "most impressive." Eileen has performed with San Francisco Opera, Berkeley Opera, Goat Hall Productions, Pocket Opera, Livermore Valley Opera, Open Opera and Sonoma City Opera. She has also performed in the Bracebridge Dinners at Yosemite National Park. On New Year's Eve she performs opera favorites at Caffe Venezia in Berkeley, one of several restaurants where she often sings. Her concert work includes performing solos at Davies Symphony Hall with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, with which she was a featured soloist on the CD Voices 1900/2000. Other concert highlights include solos with the Oakland Youth Orchestra, the UC Chamber Orchestra, and the Oakland Symphony Chorus. She also performed with the Meistersinger Chorale in London, England, in 2002. Eileen has performed with opera star Frederica von Stade in several charity events, sometimes conducted by Michael Morgan. The popular computer game "Sims 3" includes Eileen's voice. She also teaches singing in Alameda.
