DJ Seven

DJ Seven (Sean Evans) was born in SF, raised in Marin and has been a DJ for 25 years. He started on CDs which had only been around for a few years (then later switched to vinyl, followed by digital Serato DJing).

DJ Seven began his career playing parties and programming sets of 80s rock and nu wave: The Police, The Cure, U2 and New Order. Things shifted in college in San Diego with the onset of early hip hop: Beastie Boys, NWA, Too Short and RunDMC..followed by the Golden Age: A Tribe Callled Quest, EPMD, Nas, Biggie, Tupac, Dre, Snoop.  The early 90s was a period of early hip hop, early rave and rock music.

DJ Seven discovered house, techno and breaks at the first raves in San Francisco.  He started a rave promotion crew called Space Children in the mid 1990s.  Out of this, he watched and took notes from top DJs in "the scene" (Wicked and Gathering DJs like Jeno, Garth and DJ Josh) and honed his skill blending vinyl.  He got his first regular gigs playing weekly parties at Backflip in 1999 (playing drum n bass and trip hop).

As the DJ career gained steam in mid-2000s, DJ Seven started a promotion/production company, NK7, with a two business partners and threw parties at the larger clubs and underground venues around San Francisco (Gingerbread House, Kelly's Mission Rock, Ruby Skye).  The parties reach a peak of 1500 people culminating with a NYE party in 2007 in SF's Bayview District feat. an all-star SF house/breaks DJ lineup (Jeno, M3, Sol, Laird) playing to a packed house.

DJ Seven was honored in the mid-2000s by Nitevibe.com Reader's Poll as one of the Top 10 Dreamteam DJs two years in a row.  Now, in his 40s, DJ Seven focuses more on professional gigs like weddings and corporate holiday parties. He also makes chill or workout mixes for his yoga and pilates instructor friends.  His current club 2014 DJ "residencies" are at: Chambers Eat + Drink.
