Courtenay Washington

Courtenay was born in Detroit, USA but was raised in Christchurch, New Zealand. With her father being a jazz singer, it was natural for Courtenay to follow the same path. She performed weekly at the Millennium Hotel and the Twisted Hop in Christchurch.

Upon completion of high school, Courtenay attended the Christchurch jazz school. From there, her love of performing took over, and she has been doing it ever since! She has played at festivals both nationally and abroad, including the opening of the 'Westpac Trust Centre,' and performed at many live sporting, cultural and corporate events around the country.

Her penchant for musical theatre has seen her perform in The King and I, Chess, Hair and The Sound of Music, among others. She was also selected to perform for HRH Queen Elizabeth II on her last royal visit to New Zealand.

Courtenay is back in the US now, living in the San Francisco bay area.
