Caroline Altman

A native of Berkeley, California, Caroline developed an intense love of story-telling as a little girl, creating plays and songs at early age. Her first profound theatre experience was watching Marcel Marceau portray both David and Goliath, and she and was struck by how movement, music and characterization could make a story come alive.

Caroline studied ballet, tap, figure skating, and violin throughout her childhood and turned to voice and acting in junior high. She graduated from University of California, San Diego with a B.A. and honors in vocal performance, and minors in Dramatic Literature and Italian. In addition to performing, she began teaching drama, music, and dance, and composing musicals for young artists and audiences.

Singing took her to Italy, Switzerland, London, on National Tour, and finally to New York where she also worked as a director/choreographer, teaching and composing all the while. She returned to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2006 to do a show and was hired as Director of Education for San Francisco Opera Guild where she worked  for 7 years, creating a training conservatory and a host of education programs, while performing and directing at Regional and Touring companies.

Caroline currently performs and directs with companies near and far, and she is working on new creative writing and musical projects. She teaches, leads workshops, and maintains her own private vocal studio.
