Africombo
Oakland-born AfriCombo has got the rhythm to keep you movin 'n groovin' all night long. They've got a soulful sound, infused with the Afro-Caribbean rhythms of reggae, compass, rumba and a touch of West African soukous. Not only do they make you dance, but they speak to your heart with lyrics of revolution, love and freedom, inspired by the dreams of Bob Marley, Nelson Mandela, Toussaint Louveture and Mahatma Ghandi.
In the past two years, AfriCombo has rocked crowds at beloved Bay Area venues like Ashkenaz and Baobab Village, and shared the stage with the likes of Kalbass Kreyol, Avotcja, Naima Shaloub, Rosemond Jolissaint and Los Rakas. Since the January earthquake in Haiti, they have focused their energy almost entirely on performing benefit concerts all over the bay area. Hailing from Haiti, Jamaica, California, Panama and Massachusetts, this diverse group of musicians bring a common love of reggae, Afro-beat, soukous, HiLife, Haitian and other African and Caribbean music.
