Kitka

Rooted in Eastern European women's vocal traditions, this professional ensemble is internationally recognized for its artistry, versatility, and mastery of the demanding techniques of Balkan and Slavic vocal styling. In addition to being frequently on NPR, (Performance Today, A Prairie Home Companion, All Things Considered), Kitka keeps a busy itinerary of live and broadcast performances, recording, educational programs, master artist residencies, commissioning programs, and adventuresome collaborations. Ching Chang of The San Francisco Bay Times says their sound "resonates as if energized by the universe itself, as if it were calling all live beings and still matter into togetherness and unity."
