Tumbledown House has been described as modern speakeasy music, saloon jazz, or Tom Waits in a cocktail dress. The ensemble features the sultry, dynamic vocals of Gillian Wolfe atop a multi-instrumentalist band of virtuosos including clarinet, trumpet, trombone, bluesy guitar, upright bass, piano, and drums. The band has performed over 900 shows, and is equally comfortable providing the soundtrack for raucous speakeasy dance parties or performing bubbly, light jazz for cocktail hour. In addition to the band's fun, exciting original material, they love to perform standards made famous by Louis Armstrong, Patsy Cline, Ella Fitzgerald and Johnny Cash. Tumbledown House has performed at many national and international festivals and clubs, and for esteemed private clients such as Apple, Google, Yahoo, and Salesforce.
“We should be the ones thanking you! I loved the vibe the 3 of you gave off. Loved the sound, your attire and everything. Couldn’t have come together better! I’m sitting here writing this email in the exact spot that I signed your contract and to be on the other side of it all still feeling so great almost a week later, is amazing.” -Vickie R. Publicis Sapient (Dreamforce event) 09/18
“On three different occasions, San Jose Jazz has hired Tumbledown House to perform. Each time the group was easy to work with, advanced the show properly and performed before enthusiastic audiences. I would highly recommend Tumbledown House for both festival and sit-down situations.” —Bruce Labadie, San Jose Jazz Festival
“It is a rarity when you find that group that has all the elements to make for a perfect evening. Musical talent, creativity, good looks, easy to work with and most importantly has the audience sending you emails asking to bring them back… Tumbledown House is that group.” —Christian Wolf, Executive and Artistic Director, Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation
“The songwriting duo Tumbledown House presented an engaging and entertaining evening of original songs, a few covers, and stories of their evolution and development as musicians and as a band. Woven together brilliantly by lead singer Gillian Howe with her silky, sultry voice and witty repartee from frontman and guitarist, Tyler Ryan Miller. The band played with skill, precision, and heart as they seamlessly transitioned moods from ballads to upbeat, modern jazzy tunes. The audience was enthralled during the entire performance – becoming instant fans of the duo. Above all, it was a distinct pleasure to work with such polite, wildly talented, and kind professionals.” -Rick F. Christophersen, Director, Center for the Arts, El Camino College
