Santos Perdidos

Santos Perdidos is an acoustic Latin band based in the heart of the Mission, playing an eclectic mix of Son Cubano, Rumba Española, Bolero, and Afro-Peruvian Lando.

Santos Perdidos met in the summer of 2009 and proceeded to bond as friends and musicians in John Calloway’s Afro-Cuban Ensemble of San Francisco State University. The group started playing together in a very informal setting, bringing their instruments and voices to local mission taquerias. It didn’t take long before they began to take notice of their remarkable chemistry, composed of their ability to sing lead and harmonize, while playing instruments, and to emit a sincere energy that allows listeners, regardless of their previous exposure to the genre, to experience their love and dedication to music of Latin America.

The band soon became involved in the community, their first gig at the Mission Arts & Performance Project (MAPP) in the ‘Secret Garden’, set the tone for their involvement in community events. From there, Santos Perdidos has been leaving their mark wherever they play, from Mission locals such as Radio Habana, Coda, El Rio, Casa Sanchez and Carnaval to venues like Birdland Jazzista Social Club, Yoshi’s and the De Young Museum.
