Matt Venuti is a magnet for the extraordinary. As the founder and chief architect behind the San Francisco-based band, The Venusians, he has enraptured audiences with entrancing melodies on his custom-built Electronic Valve Instrument (EVI) for many years. A few years ago he shifted his musical focus to explore the awesome beauty of the Hang, the most widely touted new acoustic instrument of the 21st Century and one of the most captivating and versatile of all time. Created just in 2001 by two enigmatic geniuses in Bern, Switzerland, the Hang has a huge following of many millions of YouTube viewers but is uncommon to see live due to its rarity. After visiting the Hang-makers on several occasions, Matt has acquired an impressive collection in diverse tunings. His performance on multiple Hangs is sublime and appropriate in any setting that requires beautiful music.
Matt’s compositions and performances have been commended by luminaries such as pop icon Thomas Dolby, jazz greats Herbie Hancock and Stan Getz, list maverick Craig Newmark, and worldwide fans of his original music. He has a history of performing at progressive happenings like the TED Conferences (multiple performances and also a TED presenter one year) and gala parties, openings, and events worldwide, either as a soloist or with his ensemble.
