John Chapman

Arriving from New York City in 2008, with 34-years acoustic and electric guitar playing experience, John Chapman is a highly versatile in demand guitarist, with over 400 San Francisco Bay Area performances to his credit. His solo, duo, trio and larger ensemble performances provide artistic interpretations of classic songs; boasting infectious grooves, deft improvisations, engaging musical interplay and original compositions that are perfect for background music or concert performances. John’s performance styles include: Jazz (standards, gypsy, swing, smooth, fusion), Brazilian Bossa Nova and Samba, Nuevo-Flamenco, Pop, Rock, Folk, Funk, Reggae, Rhythm and Blues, New Orleans and select light Classical music.

Chapman’s guitar playing has aired on national and international TV and radio and he has performed with many world-class musicians including: pianist Joey Calderazzo (Branford Marseilles), drummers; Joel Rosenblatt (Spyro Gyra/Bill Evans), Russell Batiste (George Porter), Keith Carlock (Sting/Steely Dan), and bassist Myron Dove (Santana), vocalist Tom Bowes (Tower of Power) and many others. Some notable performance venues include Yoshi's and The Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, The Fenix in San Rafael, The Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, The Blue Note and Smalls in NYC, Preservation Hall in New Orleans, The Bluebird and Broadway in Nashville, and many others.

As well as performing at recording sessions and with various music artists, John is arranging and composing music for his band and debut original singer songwriter CD release. John says, “It’s all about bringing the groove; time, touch, tone and tasteful virtuosity!”
